The first patented cockroach trap is launched. In a bakery in Cologne, 808 cockroaches were caught in one night. This was the foundation for the 808 brand.

Company founded in Wuppertal-Elberfeld under the name “808 Apparate und Präparate Walter Frowein KG”. The 808 brand was part of the company name from the very beginning. The Detmolin brand is born.

Amid the turmoil of war, the company is relocated to Ebingen. Until 1945, we were Germany’s largest pyrethrum processor. StaLa (Stadt- und Landhygiene) is founded in Berlin as a pest control service provider.

Commissioning of the first filling line for insect sprays. In addition, the first ready-to-use rodent baits with anticoagulants were developed and produced. First 808 trademark registration nationally and internationally. Detmolin trademark registration nationally and internationally. The MausEX brand is also protected nationally.

As early as the 1960s, we converted aerosol filling to non-flammable safety propellant. During this period, the first bait paste for cockroach control was also developed. The first plant protection product, a herbicide, was added to the range. The Contrax and SchwabEX brands are registered nationally.

An additional plant protection product for potato sprout inhibition was added to the manufacturing range. It remained successfully in the range for over 45 years. The Contrax brand is registered internationally.

Relocation from Albstadt-Ebingen to the Albstadt district of Truchtelfingen and move into the new administration and production building.

Our first cockroach gel is launched—not only in a cartridge, but also in a can as a two-chamber system—unique on the market at the time. Rebranding to Frowein GmbH & Co. KG.

MitoFOG is registered as an EU trademark. Many new, innovative products are added, including the successful products under our GreenRange brand. This is protected as a national trademark.

Detmol products for use in aircraft were developed and positioned on the market.

At the beginning of 2019, Steffen König—previously the company’s Managing Director—acquires all shareholder interests previously held by the owner family as part of a management buyout (MBO). Gerinol and Detmolin become EU trademarks.

Relocation of production and the shipping warehouse to a nearby industrial building to meet growing space requirements. At the start of the pandemic, our disinfectants were reactivated. At times, up to 15,000 litres per week left our production.

Our 808 logo, graphically based on 1930s typography, was modernised. At the end of 2025, as part of this and our strategic repositioning, the company will also be renamed to 808 BIOZIDE GmbH & Co. KG.

The brand is to once again be a clearer part of the company, as it was in the past. In 2026, the SÜDGIPFEL word mark will be registered nationally.
